DEPLOYMENT SUPPORT
FFSC Lemoore offers a variety of workshops that are designed to help with the military lifestyle of deployment and mobilization. In general, those programs deal with informational needs that may occur during the deployment cycle such as pre-deployment, mid-deployment, and reunion.
Deployment services are tailored to the needs of the organization and include collaboration with command leadership, Ombudsman, and family support groups to develop the right mix of program subject matter that best meets the needs of the target audiences.
SINGLES PRE-DEPLOYMENT
This program is specifically tailored to the single sailor and includes information on financial planning, vehicle storage, legal needs and communication with friends and family members during deployment. (Class is 1 hour)
DEPLOYMENT READINESS BRIEF
This program is tailored for families and includes information on financial planning, vehicle storage, continuing education, legal needs, housing issues, emergency resources, medical/dental benefits and communication with family members during deployment.
(Class is 2 hours)
ORGANIZING A SUCCESSFUL HOMECOMING
The purpose of this program is to assist you with homecoming plans. One of the most common concerns is “Who is responsible for…” We will discuss responsibilities of homecoming chairmen and host commands. The majority of the program will focus on what you want to accomplish for your homecoming and have fun! This program is ideal for Ombudsman, Senior Spousal Leadership and key Family Readiness Group participants. (Class is 1 hour)
RETURN & REUNION BRIEF FOR SPOUSES
Families who have been managing on their own during long deployments face a major adjustment when military members return home. Staff members from the FFSC will visit your Family Readiness Group and share their knowledge of commonly asked questions that family members often experience. (Class is usually 1 to 2 hours)
RETURN & REUNION
Facing the uncertainty and enduring the impact of deployment, family members typically transition through a series of mental processes commonly referred to as the cycle of deployment: Tension, anger, freedom-disorganized, got it down, anticipating return, honeymoon, reality and stabilization. These stages may be different or exhibit patterns with each deployment. This class addresses relationship with family members and what makes return and reunion awkward. This class is designed for all members and spouses but may be especially beneficial to those experiencing their first deployment. (Class is 1 hour)
IA FAMILY CONNECTION
Being married to an Individual Augmentee (IA) is a fairly recent development in the military and brings with it unique stresses and complications. The FFSC has developed a support system for spouses of IA’s. The support group addresses the difficulties of parenting, dealing with loneliness, stress, anger, and how best to handle marital strife from thousands mile away. As your partner nears their return date, more attention will be given to how to best prepare yourself for the reunion and educating spouses on signs of combat stress/PTSD. In addition, spouses will be introduced to various activities available them on base. Lincoln Housing will occasionally sponsor an off base activity for IA families. (Class is usually 2 hours)
BACK FROM IRAQ
Some of the topics of discussion will include the transition back to being a parent and a partner, combat stress, traumatic brain injury, grieving the loss of friends, and both the positive and negative emotional impact on those who served. All participants will receive a copy of the book “Down Range: to Iraq and back.” This educational forum will include video segments combined with discussions and exercises to help reduce stress, anger, and restore healthy sleep patterns.
(Class is 2 hours)
